Private Insurance Coverage
This state does not require private health insurance plans to cover cessation treatments. Cessation coverage in private health insurance plans varies by employer and/or plan. Smokers with this type of health insurance should contact their insurance plan for information on cessation benefits.
Quitline
The Michigan Tobacco Quitline is open 6AM to 11PM (M-TH), 6AM to 8PM (F), 8AM to 6PM (SAT-SUN) (Eastern Time). You can reach the Michigan Tobacco Quitline by calling 1-800-480-7848. Unfortunately, the quitline has reached its capacity for this fiscal year and is not counseling new callers. Please contact your insurance plan to see if they offer counseling, or call 1-800-LUNG-USA.
American Lung Association Resources
The American Lung Association's Freedom From SmokingĀ® program is available in several counties throughout the state of Michigan. Not On Tobacco is offered in select high schools in the Detroit and Lansing area.
